Bernardo Silva says he and his teammates must continue to push themselves every day if City are to claim silverware this season.

Guardiola’s men go into Saturday’s 17:30 kick-off away to Southampton aiming for a 13th successive Premier League win, which would also extend our lead at the top of the table to 14 points for at least 24 hours.

We have been in inspired form of late, claiming a crucial 1-0 victory at home to Chelsea in our last outing, but Bernardo insists there can be no let-up in those standards.

The Portuguese midfielder also believes the quality of the squad helps to bring out the best in each player, whether it be in training sessions or out on the pitch.

“(We need to) just keep working and doing our best because we have a great squad, a big squad with a lot of quality players,” he said.

“You have to prove yourself every day if you want to play (and) if you want to be a part of this team and have minutes.

“You have to be competitive, you have to do your best when you’re on the pitch.

“(We have) a lot of players who want to do the best for the team and it’s going to hopefully be a very exciting second half of the season.

“I’m happy to do my job well, to help the team. I’m happy with my form right now and that’s the most important thing.

“I want to win titles, I want to win the Premier League try to do well in the Champions League and help this club reach the goals for this season, that’s the most important thing.”
